About the Programme
The Library & Information Center of Panteion University is participating in BiblioGreen, an initiative of the Goethe-Institut Athen, implemented in collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Thessaloniki and the environmental organisation Mamagea.
As part of this initiative, the Library, in collaboration with the Department of Economic and Regional Development, is developing and implementing BiblioGreen @ Panteion, a series of activities aimed at raising awareness, sharing knowledge and encouraging active participation across the university community.
Our goal is to transform the Library into a space for environmental responsibility, knowledge sharing and collective action. A place where we can reflect, learn and envision a more sustainable future together.
Because libraries are more than places of knowledge. They are also spaces for change, awareness, networking and the exchange of ideas and experiences.
BiblioGreen Residency Programme
The Library & Information Center of Panteion University responded to the Goethe-Institut’s call for green and sustainable libraries.
Through this initiative, ten Goethe-Institut branches in Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Greece, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Türkiye and Ukraine invite experts and libraries to participate in a programme dedicated to sustainability and the development of green libraries.
The BiblioGreen Residency Programme provides opportunities for creative ideas, promotes sustainable practices and strengthens libraries as vibrant spaces for positive change.
Its aim is to foster environmental responsibility and establish libraries as centres of excellence in sustainability.
Shaping the Future: Libraries as Sustainable Spaces for Knowledge
- Strengthening libraries as centres of excellence in sustainability: Developing and implementing awareness-raising activities on topics such as recycling, environmental education and the circular economy.
- Libraries as spaces for networking: Encouraging the exchange of knowledge and experiences among libraries, experts, journalists and environmental and sustainability activists.
- Libraries as catalysts for social change: Making sustainability an integral and lasting part of library operations and practices.
